"Watercolor is like a strong willed child. Learn to work with it instead of against it and it's a real joy."
- Lucy Schonfeld
Lucy Schonfeld is an artist in Reedsburg, WI, where she paints watercolor, builds luminaries, and teaches classes.Words from the artist:
"Art has always been a joy in my life. My wish is to share it with you. My lamps are a reflection of my love of light. Living in Wisconsin, with frequent cloudy days, light is something I treasure. I am also a painter, where light is also a frequent subject. I began experimenting when I discovered how magical light was shining through my paintings. I made lampshades and from there it evolved into Woodland Luminaries."
"I received a Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan and played flute in the Saginaw and Dearborn Symphonies. I've taught music privately and in all levels of public school in Michigan and Wisconsin. Through the demands of music school I took art classes, as a means to balance myself. I had a wonderful third-grade teacher and a high school art teacher that encouraged my artistic talents. I am fascinated by the details and wonder of nature: it's colors, shapes, shadows and reflections. I teach an adult watercolor class in Reedsburg and my paintings are in private and corporate collections in the Midwest and overseas."
